The Office (US) S2 E8 - 'Performance Review' Mini-Review
Talk About Stank!
The Office (US) produces another excellent episode, as Michael attempts to gain closure with Jan whilst conducting performance reviews throughout the office. The Michael and Jan scenes were laugh out loud funny, particularly when Dwight barges in on their meeting. There were some chuckles spread throughout, but the main pro of this episode was the emotional character arc and how it pushed the story forwards. Every bit as good as its predecessor, 'Performance Review' is the joint-best episode I have watched.
BEST MOMENTS
- "Pam you're trustworthy" "Thank You" "And a woman" "Oh no"
- Stanley's interview was brilliant! "It's all about my bonus"
- "Yes they are"
- Wham Bam
- Poor Tom from Accounting!
- "Talk about STANK!"
- "Don't sleep with your boss!"
- "As is toying with a man's heart" [A serious offence]
DID YOU KNOW?!*
- The song Dwight listens to to psyche himself for his review is Motley Crue - Wildside
- When Dwight lists the reasons why he deserves a raise, he says he's never missed a day of work due to illness, even when he had walking pneumonia. In season 1 episode 3 he states he has never been sick
- At the opening, on Dwight's desk is a Froggy 101 bumper sticker. That's the area's country music station, 101.3
- Dwight quotes Lex Luthor when talking to Michael about his raise. Rainn Wilson would go on to voice Lex Luthor in The Death of Superman (2018), and Reign of the Supermen (2019)
- Yet another Philadelphia Phillies Bobblehead-Doll on Dwight's desk. This time it's Mike Lieberthal, the former catcher. In Season 1 (deleted scene) it was John Kruk (who played first base for the Phil's in the 80's and 90's)
RATING: 8.4/10
