The Office (US) S3 E21 - 'Product Recall' Mini-Review
Control the Story.
Dunder Mifflin Scranton scramble to respond to a paper crisis when inappropriate watermarks are printed and distributed to their customers. It was interesting to see an episode focused on the actual work in the office, since a lot of the time it seems our beloved characters don't spend ANY time working. Jim and Andy's subplot fell a bit short, with the random introduction of Andy's high school girlfriend causing him distress. It was sweet to see Jim support him at the end but overall it felt like a pointless story line and one which lacked the humour to support it. Michael's chaotic handling of the watermark situation is the real highlight here and is the funniest element of 'Product Recall' for sure. Overall whilst the plot was fun, it felt a bit too thin and the jokes weren't up to the usual standard of comedy that the show boasts.
BEST MOMENTS
- Jim impersonating Dwight was a QUALITY opener
- Gotta love a good paper crisis!
- "Of course the one year I blow it off, this happens"
- "MIDNIGHT OSCAR"
- "This day is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S"
- "NOT"
- Kevin's 'Australian' accent
- "Beer me"
- Swear that hoodie isn't green?!
- The money beets
- Dwight hiding Pam with a tree
- "I had no idea" "Well, that's not going to hold up in court"
- "One of your students is a BITCH"
- "Couple of chickens doing a goat, couple of pigs watching"
- "Yeh well I'm calling the Ungrateful Biatch hotline!"
- "Do you know what this is for?" [Pam sadly] "Yes"
- An escape goat
- "You have one day"
- Creed making money from Debbie Brown's firing
- Jim making Andy feel better
- Loved Dwight's impersonation of Jim!
DID YOU KNOW?!*
- Referring to the crisis Michael says it's threat level midnight and Jim smiles at the camera because in the season 2 episode, "The Client", Pam finds a screenplay written by Michael titled, "Threat Level Midnight" and subsequently Jim organizes the office in a reading of the screenplay
- When Creed is framing Debbie Brown for failing to spot the watermark, he tells Dwight that Debbie cited an "emergency dentist appointment" as her excuse for missing work. Dwight is rightly suspicious of this, because this is the same excuse he uses on Michael when he lies about going to meet Jan in the episode "The Coup". He tells Michael he needs an "emergency crown" placed by "Crentist the Dentist"
- There is a poster Dwight holds up for Michael's apology video that appears very quickly and Michael doesn't say. It reads: "I need this job. My mortgage is hundreds of dollars a month. With this job I can barely cover that. I have a company car, but I still have to pay for the gas. Gas prices are high and I have no savings whatsoever. And it wasn't even me. It's so not fair that they want me to resign"
- Angela realizes that Kevin made an error adding 4 and 7. Has nothing to do with with Jim's costume, since it was a payroll form and not an expense form. They both just happen to have the same numbers
RATING: 8/10
