The Clone Wars S1 E11 - 'Dooku Captured' Mini-Review

Unexpected Gifts.
Anakin and Obi-Wan track down Dooku in a slow but decent episode. I was hoping for a climactic lightsaber battle between Dooku and the Jedi, but maybe that will come in the next episode

JEDI MESSAGE
"The winding path to peace is always a worthy one, regardless of how many turns it takes"

TRIVIA

  • Kenobi's line to the Niktos, "You're not the prisoners I'm looking for," echoes his line in A New Hope, "These aren't the droids you're looking for."
  • In the original airing of the episode, which was also shown as a sneak peek, when Dooku's frigate comes under fire by the Resolute, Obi-Wan tells Dooku that he'll be taken to Coruscant to stand trial before the Senate, before the latter denounces Obi-Wan and Anakin as fools before making his escape. Later airings have the scene cut and instead show Dooku denouncing Anakin and Obi Wan as fools after Anakin tells him that Republic troops are boarding the frigate.
  • The apparatus immobilizing Dooku appears to be a containment field, which is what Dooku had Obi-Wan bound in during Attack of the Clones.
  • Originally, there were going to be two Kowakian monkey-lizards as part of the pirate group: twin brothers Pikk Mukmuk and Pilf Mukmuk, but their characters were consolidated into Pilf.
  • The Corona-class armed frigate that appears in the episode was derived from 1950s-era film concepts of spaceships (flying saucers), such as those in Earth vs. The Flying Saucers. The commentary revealed that they had planned on using a flying-saucer type spacecraft in the prequel series since The Phantom Menace, either as Trade Federation spacecraft or as Alderaanian vessels, but it wasn't until the production of this episode that they got the chance to implement the idea.
  • In the original script, the scene where Anakin and Obi-Wan stumble into the hangar originally had them finding a Sabaoth starfighter from Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter.
  • The song played in the background in the pirate stronghold is a Hindi song known as "Indian Pop Source," composed by the series' composer Kevin Kiner.
  • Captain Rex's kama is missing at the beginning of the scene involving the briefing about Florrum
RATING: 7/10
